About Finding Balance

Finding Balance is a program which was developed over 10 years ago by the Injury Prevention Centre at the University of Alberta and designed to raise awareness about the prevention of slips, trips, and falls among older adults. The Finding Balance program is now offered throughout Canada with the help of other dedicated provincial stewards.

Finding Balance in New Brunswick

With the support from Trauma NB, the Finding Balance Program was first introduced to New Brunswickers in 2016.

In this province, Finding Balance NB has a goal to reduce falls and fall-related injuries in older adults by supporting public awareness efforts throughout the province.

Finding Balance NB also aim to help raise provincial and national awareness of the importance of using A Collaborative Approach to facilitate the delivery of comprehensive individualized care according to best available evidence for clinical practice. This is accomplished by working with select stakeholders to support primary care providers with evidence-based resources such as the Algorithm for Fall Risk Screening, Assessment and Intervention.
